or rage after getting cut from a team? these are all natural responses to stress. grounding means bringing your attention to where your body—particularly the feet—connects to the earth or surface below you. through grounding techniques like the one offered below, you can reconnect to the present moment at any time of day and especially during stressful moments. these on-the-go techniques can help stop difficult events from overwhelming us. this guided meditation invites you to focus on the feeling of your feet touching the ground while imagining you are connected to the earth like the base of a tree. you may stand (recommended if you are able) or sit, but be sure to have two feet touching the floor. you can begin by sitting or standing, whatever feels right for you in this moment as long as you have your feet touching the ground. you can leave your eyes open with a soft gaze toward the floor or gently close the eyes, whichever you prefer.
